In Isabella Anand’s thesis collection: Fish Out of Water she combines popular phrases used in dating such as, “Plenty of Fish in the Sea” and “Catfish” as a way of making fun of what dating is like today. This collection was inspired by Anand’s experiences coming from a small community in Nassau, Bahamas to one of the biggest cities in the world, New York City. Essentially leaving her small pond to the great blue sea. This idea of hookup culture and modern day dating apps inspired this idea of having too many fish in the sea. She believes it is too easy to match with someone and get connected but it's never been harder to connect. This collection is essentially making fun of today's dating culture by using phrases like “Hook Line and Sink Her” to express how silly it all has become.
